Have a neat picture of cool weather phenomena? Want to show it off and enter it into a contest? Well, you're in luck! Adolescents, ages 7-16, may send in their pictures for a chance to win a spot on the SCO website and a prize!
Our first contest starts: March 1, 2008 and ends: June 30, 2008
The winners will be notified by: Mid-July
Teachers may download a flyer here.
- Limit five entries per person.
- This contest is open to residents of any state, ages 7-16, but the photo must have been taken in North Carolina.
- No photoshopping or other digital manipulation! This contest is about nature's weather phenomenon, not how good your computer skills are!
- The picture must have been taken by the child entering it. Parents are encouraged to help with camera set up, if needed, but the entrant must take the picture. Also, no professional pictures or pictures off the Internet are acceptable.
- The picture entry must be a photo. No copies on paper, drawings, or faxed entries will be accepted.
- Your picture entry will not be returned. If you wish to still have the picture available to you, be sure to make a copy or get a double print before submitting. This applies only to photos mailed to us.
- All entries must include a brief commentary from the entrant. Please include name, address, school you attend, email address (or phone number we can reach you at), and a brief description.
Your Description should include:
— Why you believe your picture should win.
— Where you were when you took the picture.
— What you were doing at the time.
— And what made you want to take a picture of this event.
- Photos will be judged by staff and students at the State Climate Office.
- Immediate family members of employees of the State Climate Office and the NC State College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences are ineligible.
- When the winner has been decided, they will be contacted for a picture of themselves and any further information needed for our site. Please do not send a picture of yourself along with your picture entry.
